Grain free

In general, dogs should eat about 2-3% of their body weight daily. 
Puppies should eat about 2-3% of their expected adult body weight.

Dog caloric intake varies wildly from dog to dog depending on activity level, age, metabolism, breed, gender, reproductive status, if it is spayed/neutered and ideal weight. As always, experiment, use common sense, and talk to your vet. Our general guidelines are as follows:

Recipe #1
Grain free Chicken, apples, carrots, pumpkin, spinach
3 lbs. ground chicken
3 oz. chicken liver (or other organ meat)
2 apples peeled and chopped
3 medium carrots shredded
1/2 C. pumpkin puree
1 1/2 C. frozen spinach or 1 lb. fresh spinach
3 T. Top Dog Meal Completer

Cook top - 

  1. In a large skillet, add chicken and chicken liver. Spread the meat out evenly then mostly cover with water (about 1 cup). Bring to a boil and cover with a lid. Turn heat down and simmer until cooked through.
  2. Add apples, carrots and spinach to the cooked meat. Cover with a lid until cooked through. 
  3. Transfer meat and veggie mix to a large bowl.
  4. Add pumpkin puree until heated through (pumpkin can also be scooped on to the side of the bowl when served as a special treat instead of mixed in).
  5. Once cooled, add Top Dog Meal Completer and mix well.
  6. Divide into portions to refrigerate or freeze. 

Slow cooker - 

  1. In a 6 quart slow cooker, add ground chicken, chicken liver, apples, carrots and 1 cup of water.
  2. Cover and cook on low heat for 5-6 hours or high heat for 2-3 hours
  3. Transfer to a large bowl and let it cool completely.
  4. Mix in Top Dog Meal Completer.
  5. Divide into portions to refrigerate or freeze.

* This recipe has the consistency of mashed potatoes so it is perfect if your dog needs very soft food.

Grain free pork, apple, blueberries, spinach, carrots, sweet potatoes
4 lbs. pork all excess fat removed
3 oz. chicken liver (or other organ meat)
1 apple
1/2 C. blueberries
1 lb. spinach
2 medium shredded carrots
1 C. sweet potatoes
1 C. water
4 T. Top Dog Meal Completer

Slow cooker -

       1. Chop all of your fruits and vegetables and add to the slow cooker in the                 order listed.
        2. Cook on low for four to five hours until ingredients are soft and pork easily
            breaks up.         
        3. Transfer to a bowl and allow to cool completely before breaking it apart.
        4. Once cooled add Top Dog meal Completer and mix well.
        5. Divide into portions to refrigerate or freeze.
